Today I wrote a third online course to help educate people on some of the basic practices in breeding pet rats. Not by any means to be instructional, but more so to enlighten them about ethical practices, and help them to know a good breeder when they find one.
I've had a lot of creative energy the last couple of days, and I like to make good use of it, using research to support me, so that I can write thoughtful, informative articles that I hope people will enjoy learning from.
I want nothing more than to promote the spread of information that is useful and accurate, so that hopefully the pet community can grow, and begin seeing out and working away from those who are unethical or inhumane. Supporting unethical breeders who produce poor quality animals does not help the domesticated rat species, or their owners, and knowing how to discern a good breeder from one who is not is a necessary skill in my opinion.
I also made time to play with the rats for a while and took a few photos, and I made my rat babies some yummy scrambled eggs with some powdered rat food, Salmon and fish oil, and kitten milk replacement added in for a boost in nutrition. We save the powdered food from the bottom of the rat food bags to use it in cooking and baking for the rats, and it helps reduce waste.
They also got some left over Kraft dinner after we ate this evening. I like being able to share food with the rats that I have cooked, because it gives me a feeling that I am nurturing them. Food may be a love language for me, because feeding people and my pets makes me feel warm and fuzzy feelings.
I'm pretty happy with my day, I've got to say.
These are a few of the photos I took earlier.
For now, it's time to relax. I'm looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings.
